Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited is actively evaluating the development of a mega shipyard in Maharashtra as part of its long-term expansion strategy and in line with the Indian government’s vision of positioning the country among the world’s top five shipbuilding nations, according to Chairman and Managing Director Capt Jagmohan.
The proposed shipyard is expected to significantly enhance the company’s shipbuilding capabilities and strengthen India’s standing in the global maritime industry amid increasing demand for both commercial and defence vessels.
Earlier this year, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders acquired a 51% stake in Colombo Dockyard as part of its international expansion plans. The Mumbai-based defence public sector undertaking is also exploring further growth opportunities to expand its presence across the shipbuilding and maritime sectors.
