A transformational Water, Sewage, and Effluent Treatment Project is underway in Polba, Hooghly, West Bengal by Medicare Environmental Management Pvt. Ltd. This Rs. 10 Crore project addresses regional environmental and societal concerns. The project's main goals include providing clean drinking water, treating sewage and industrial effluents sustainably, and reducing Hooghly River water pollution.
The project includes a Water Treatment Plant that uses physical, chemical, and biological processes, a Sewage Treatment Plant that uses sedimentation, aeration, and filtration, and an Effluent Treatment Plant that meets strict environmental standards for industrial wastewater discharge into the Hooghly River. This facility is expected to manage 5 tons of garbage everyday and serve 30,000 inhabitants in two years.
Multiple advantages are promised by the project beyond its environmental effect. It anticipates improved public health via drinkable water, Hooghly River pollution reduction, and construction and plant operating jobs. The enhanced water infrastructure may also attract new firms to Polba, boosting economic growth and community development.
As on December 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
