Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has invited the National University of Singapore (NUS) to establish an international branch or satellite campus in Amaravati, reinforcing the State’s vision of developing its capital city into a globally competitive education and innovation hub.
During his visit to Singapore, Naidu met with NUS President Tan Eng Chye on Monday to explore opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships, and the expansion of higher education initiatives in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister outlined the State government's long-term strategy to position Amaravati as a premier destination for education, research, innovation, and knowledge-based industries. He highlighted the growing presence of reputed educational institutions in the capital region and emphasized the government's commitment to building a world-class academic ecosystem capable of attracting global talent and investment.
Discussions between the two sides focused on potential areas of cooperation, including joint research programmes, talent development initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, innovation partnerships, and other forms of academic collaboration that could strengthen educational ties between Andhra Pradesh and Singapore.
The invitation to NUS forms part of Andhra Pradesh’s broader efforts to attract internationally renowned universities and establish Amaravati as a leading centre for higher education, research excellence, and global academic engagement. The move is expected to support the State’s ambition of creating a future-ready workforce and fostering an innovation-driven economy.
