In a major boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, global tech brand OnePlus has partnered with domestic electronics manufacturer Bhagwati Products Ltd. (BPL) to locally produce premium tablets at BPL’s Greater Noida facility. This marks OnePlus’ expansion into local tablet manufacturing, building on its existing smartphone operations.
The partnership is part of OnePlus’ broader ‘Project Starlight’ strategy, aimed at deepening supply chain integration and reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian market. “Localising tablet production reflects our commitment to innovate for India and invest in its growing tech ecosystem,” said Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India.
Vikas Jain, Co-Founder of BPL, noted that the collaboration adds a new product line to their manufacturing portfolio and further enhances their capabilities. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of establishing India as a global technology hub.
India’s electronics manufacturing sector has seen significant growth, expanding from just two mobile manufacturing units in 2014 to over 300 today. Currently, 99.2% of mobile phones sold in India are domestically produced.
