Prime Minister Narendra Modi ceremoniously unveiled and initiated a comprehensive array of developmental ventures in Assam, collectively valued at approximately ₹11,600 crore. Speaking at a public gathering held at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, PM Modi introduced several noteworthy initiatives, notably the Kamakhya temple corridor (₹498 crore), a six-lane road connecting the new airport terminal (₹358 crore) in Guwahati, the elevation of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards (₹831 crore), and the establishment of a new sports complex in Chandrapur (₹300 crore).
The inauguration of the second phase of Asom Mala roads marked a significant milestone, encompassing the construction of 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, with a total investment of ₹3,444 crore. Furthermore, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the integrated new building of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (₹3,250 crore), the proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital (₹578 crore), and the upcoming ₹297-crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.
Among the projects initiated by the Prime Minister were a four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur (₹1,451 crore) and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri (₹592 crore). The cumulative investment in these initiatives, financed collaboratively by the state government and the Centre, is estimated at ₹11,599 crore.
PM Modi's visit to Assam comprised the laying of foundation stones and the inauguration of these strategic projects, underscoring the government's commitment to bolstering the state's overall development and enhancing its infrastructure.
