A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday for a new radar manufacturing facility at the Shoolagiri Industrial Area in Tamil Nadu, marking an important milestone in the defence collaboration between Israel Aerospace Industries’ ELTA Systems and DCX Systems Ltd.
According to a statement from IAI, the facility is expected to be completed by April 2027, with production set to commence shortly thereafter.
Once operational, the plant is anticipated to significantly strengthen surveillance and threat detection capabilities. It will also play a key role in fostering a strong domestic defence ecosystem by engaging with local suppliers, startups, and academic institutions, the company added.
