On 15 November, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated two key projects in Nagaland under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme—a multipurpose hall in Phek and a guest house in Zunheboto.
The announcements were made during her visit to Chumoukedima, where she also conducted a review meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and senior state officials. Sitharaman reiterated the Centre’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in underserved regions and improving socio-economic indicators, particularly in Kiphire, an Aspirational District. She highlighted notable progress in sectors such as health, education, and financial inclusion, alongside the significant expansion of banking services across the state.
The Minister further assured the public that quality monitoring of road projects has been strengthened, and measures are being taken to address post-monsoon road damages. She reaffirmed the Centre’s continued support for Nagaland’s infrastructure growth through SASCI funding.
