Sky-High Ambitions: Wonderla’s ₹37Cr Bet on Chennai’s Skyline

Wonderla Holidays has launched its new Skywheel attraction at its Chennai amusement park, marking a key addition to its entertainment offerings in the city.

The fully air-conditioned Skywheel, standing 80 metres tall, also features the Sky View Diner, an elevated dining experience integrated within the structure, offering visitors a unique leisure and dining combination. The attraction has been developed with an investment of around ₹37 crore and strengthens the premium experience at Wonderla Chennai.

The Chennai park itself is the result of a long-term development journey that began in 2015, when Wonderla Holidays signed an MoU with Guidance Tamil Nadu to establish the project. Built at a total investment of ₹611 crore, the park was inaugurated in December last year and has a capacity to host up to 6,500 visitors per day.

Company leadership expects strong growth in visitor numbers in FY27, with the Chennai park gradually aligning with other major Wonderla locations such as Bengaluru, Kochi, and Hyderabad. The company is also evaluating future expansion opportunities, including a potential resort in Chennai and new amusement parks in cities like Mumbai, Indore, Ahmedabad, and Goa, along with exploratory plans in virtual entertainment and content-related ventures.
