Smarter Logistics: NHAI & NCAER Join Forces on New Research Center

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) to establish India’s first permanent, independent research center dedicated to the economics of transport systems. Housed at NCAER in New Delhi, the center will focus on transportation, mobility, and logistics to drive evidence-based policymaking in the infrastructure sector. Funded by NHAI with support from partner institutions, the center will conduct applied economic research into national highway economics, freight logistics, multimodal integration, toll policy, asset monetization, and road safety. To ensure academic rigor, its operations will be overseen by an advisory committee of economists, transport experts, and public policy specialists, all aimed at fostering a more efficient, safe, and sustainable transport ecosystem.
