Tata Takes the Chip: Indian Giant to Fabricate Semiconductors in Dholera

Tata Group is on the verge of unveiling its strategy to establish a cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat later this year. This announcement was made during the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, underscoring Tata's dedication to advancing technological infrastructure in the region.

Currently finalizing negotiations for the semiconductor fab, the Group anticipates initiating the commissioning phase in 2024. Concurrently, Tata Group is set to commence construction on a massive 20 GW battery storage factory in Gujarat within the next two months. This significant undertaking is in line with Tata's overarching vision to contribute to the nation's burgeoning electric vehicle supply chain.

Notably, at the summit, Simmtech from South Korea disclosed its plans to establish a chip component plant in Gujarat, complementing the imminent semiconductor testing and packaging facility by the US-based semiconductor firm Micron.
