The much-anticipated International Film City project in Uttar Pradesh is slated to begin construction by late May or June 2025, according to official sources.
Situated in Sector-21 along the Yamuna Expressway within the YEIDA region, the project will be developed in three phases over eight years, covering a total area of 1,000 acres. Phase one, spread across 230 acres, involves an investment of Rs 1,510 crore and will feature 13 to 14 state-of-the-art sound stages and a dedicated film institute across 300,000 square meters.
The concession agreement for the project was signed in June 2024, with the right of way granted in February 2025. The building plan is expected to be submitted soon, after which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lay the foundation stone, pending final approvals.
Bayview Projects, led by acclaimed filmmaker Boney Kapoor, has been selected as the project developer. The company has already completed key preparatory activities, including land leveling, geo-technical surveys, roadwork, and site cleanup.
The International Film City is envisioned to establish Uttar Pradesh as a premier destination for film production, media, and tourism—driving job creation, attracting investment, and highlighting the state's cultural heritage on both national and global stages.
