Maharashtra has inaugurated its first-ever glass skywalk, perched above the scenic Napne Waterfall in Sindhudurg district, offering a thrilling new attraction for adventure seekers, nature lovers, and tourists.
Developed at an approximate cost of ₹99.63 lakh, the skywalk was launched under the state’s Sindhuratna tourism initiative and was unveiled by Regional Minister Nitesh Rane as a birthday tribute to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Located near Nadhavade village in the Konkan region, Napne is a perennial waterfall, situated just three km from Vaibhavwadi railway station.
Set amidst dense forest and rich biodiversity, the area is also a haven for birdwatchers, frequently visited by hornbills and other exotic species. The skywalk—constructed using high-strength transparent glass—offers a dramatic overhead view of the waterfall, creating a unique and immersive experience. Design highlights include arch-style railings, wooden-style steps, and a striking butterfly sculpture at the entrance, which has already become a popular selfie point.
This infrastructure is expected to be a major catalyst for tourism in the region, enhancing visitor footfall and putting Sindhudurg on the map as a destination for eco-adventure and sustainable travel.
