The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has secured technical approval from the Maharashtra government’s apex committee for its ₹300 crore water supply improvement project, marking a key milestone toward finalizing tenders and appointing contractors.
This major initiative, part of the central government’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, is designed to enhance Nashik’s water distribution infrastructure. The project will be jointly funded by the central government and the NMC.
The plan includes six major components, focusing on replacing outdated pipelines and installing new ones in rapidly developing urban areas. Key undertakings include a ₹95.20 crore project to replace pipelines between pumping stations and filtration plants, and a ₹90.30 crore effort to renew old distribution pipelines across six city zones—particularly in Panchavati, Cidco, Satpur, and Nashik East.
An additional ₹89 crore will be invested in laying new pipelines in expanding localities such as Adgaon, Makhmalabad, Pathardi, and New Indira Nagar. The final proposal is set to be submitted to the NMC’s standing committee next week for the issuance of work orders.
