McDermott Goes Deep: First KG-D6 Campaign Completed

McDermott International has successfully completed the first of two offshore campaigns for Reliance Industries’ KG-D6 R-Cluster subsea development in the Krishna Godavari Basin, off India’s east coast.

Deploying its derrick lay vessel DLV 2000, McDermott executed its first S-lay piggy-back pipelay operation, installing 18-inch and four-inch pipelines at water depths of approximately 4,265 ft (1,300 m). The campaign also included the installation of six-inch lines, pipeline end terminations (PLETs), and manifolds in water depths reaching 6,300 ft (1,920 m), along with the installation of India’s longest dual riser. Several specialised vessels supported these complex subsea installation activities.

Commenting on the milestone, Ian Prescott, Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific, said, “The safe completion of season one activities in the challenging offshore environment off India’s east coast, while mitigating disruptions caused by two cyclones, demonstrates McDermott’s expertise in engineering and execution of complex ultra-deepwater subsea projects.” He added that the company will build on this success to complete the second campaign safely and to the highest quality standards.

McDermott continues to expand its footprint in India, with more than 1,500 personnel supporting engineering, procurement, construction, and installation operations across multiple offices.
