Mega-Deal in Maharashtra: $3 Billion Green Ammonia Plant to Be Built by Inox Air Products

Inox Air Products, a collaborative venture between Inox Group and USA-based Air Products, has formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra for the establishment of the state's inaugural green ammonia plant. The plant, boasting a capacity of 500,000 Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), is slated to materialize at a projected cost of USD three billion.

This momentous agreement transpired in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Principal Secretary of Industries and Mining Harshdeep Kamble, and key officials from the Inox Group within the state. The green ammonia, a byproduct of green hydrogen derived from water electrolysis, is pivotal in the production of agricultural fertilizers.

The envisaged project is expected to be operational within a timeline ranging from three to five years. The facility is designed to yield liquid ammonia, positioning itself as a climate-neutral hydrogen carrier. This upcoming plant is poised to play a pivotal role in the global value chain, contributing to the production of sustainable and versatile green hydrogen, thereby significantly curbing carbon emissions.

Inox Air Products, renowned for its prowess in manufacturing industrial and medical gases, currently boasts 45 operational locations.
