Ulhasnagar Central Hospital Set for Massive 500-Bed Upgrade

The Maharashtra government has announced plans to redevelop Ulhasnagar’s Central Hospital into a modern, 500-bed multi-speciality healthcare center, modeled after the Thane District Civil Hospital. The announcement followed a joint inspection of the hospital and the newly established ESIC facility by Health Minister Prakash Abitkar and Kalyan MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde.

During the review, officials were directed to immediately address existing infrastructural shortcomings and elevate patient care standards. To fast-track the transformation, Dr. Shinde instructed the Health Department and the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) to prioritize the submission of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). He also proposed integrating a dedicated maternity hospital within the expanded complex. Once complete, the project promises to significantly bolster public healthcare capacity and specialized medical access across the region.
