Adani Sparks a Green Revolution: 3.37 GWh Battery Goes Live!

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has commissioned a 3.37 gigawatt-hour (GWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Khavda in Gujarat, making it the world’s largest single-location battery storage deployment outside China and one of the fastest utility-scale installations globally.

The company stated that the project was completed within just 10 months of construction. The latest phase involved the addition of 1.37 GWh of storage capacity in March 2026, increasing AGEL’s total operational BESS capacity at the Khavda site to 3.37 GWh.

According to AGEL, the storage system has the capability to supply enough clean energy to power nearly one million homes for an entire day or keep more than 12 million LED bulbs illuminated continuously for 10 hours.

The company said the large-scale battery storage project is expected to enhance grid reliability, support the stability of renewable energy networks, and facilitate the supply of round-the-clock green power.
