The government is implementing the Green Energy Corridor Phase-II (GEC Phase-II) scheme across seven states—Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh—to strengthen renewable energy integration into the national grid.
The initiative aims to facilitate the evacuation and integration of 20 GW of renewable energy capacity, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik said. Of the 91 transmission infrastructure packages planned under the scheme, 73 have been tendered and 67 awarded. However, despite the progress in project execution, no renewable energy projects have yet been connected to the grid under GEC Phase-II.
The government has also clarified that there are no immediate plans to expand the existing production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for solar photovoltaic modules, nor is there a proposal to introduce a new PLI scheme for domestic solar panel manufacturing at present.
