Powering Up Green: NLCIL's ₹1.25 Lakh Cr. Renewable Energy Push

NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has announced an ambitious capital expenditure plan of ₹1.25 lakh crore by 2030, aimed at tripling its power generation capacity from 6.7 GW to 20 GW, with a strong focus on renewable energy.

According to Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, ₹65,000 crore will be dedicated to renewable energy projects and green initiatives, including ₹15,000 crore for battery storage systems. Thermal power will receive ₹45,000 crore in investments, while ₹15,000 crore has been allocated to expand mining operations.

As part of its growth strategy, NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL) is planning an initial public offering (IPO) to raise capital for its clean energy initiatives. Meanwhile, NLCIL is also exploring global opportunities in critical mineral mining to support its long-term sustainability goals.
