Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply 300 MW of round-the-clock thermal power to the five electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) of Karnataka. The power will be sourced from the upcoming Koderma Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x800 MW), which is currently under development.
This agreement is aimed at meeting Karnataka’s rising electricity demand with reliable and cost-effective thermal power. The PPA was signed at the Power Company of Karnataka Ltd (PCKL) headquarters and expands DVC’s total power supply to the state to 750 MW.
The agreement was formalised between DVC, PCKL, and the five DISCOMs of Karnataka. With this deal, DVC has now secured PPAs for all three of its major upcoming thermal projects—Koderma Phase-II, Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) Phase-II, and other expansion projects—covering a total capacity of 3,720 MW.
PCKL Managing Director Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar stated that the agreement would help ensure a stable and competitively priced power supply for the state.
