Andhra Pradesh's Power Grid Gets a $1.8 Billion Upgrade

Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister G. Ravi Kumar announced on September 3, 2025, that the state government is fast-tracking transmission network expansion projects worth ₹14,962 crore to address the growing electricity demand across the state.

The projects span 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV transmission levels and are designed to enhance grid stability and support the state's rapid industrialisation and infrastructure development. The Minister directed officials to ensure speed, quality, and strict adherence to timelines—particularly for works linked to ports, industrial hubs, and the upcoming capital region.

“The state government is prioritising the fast-track implementation of transmission network expansion worth ₹14,962 crore at various voltage levels across Andhra Pradesh,” said Kumar in an official statement. He stressed the critical role of these projects in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply for industries, urban centres, and rural communities alike.

Driven by rising demand from industrial and urban sectors, the government views this initiative as a strategic investment in the state's economic growth and energy resilience.
