Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, underscored India’s growing leadership in the global clean energy transition during the inaugural session of the third International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2025) held in New Delhi.
During the event, the Minister announced a Rs 100 crore call for proposals to support pilot projects producing green hydrogen from biomass and waste materials. This initiative builds on the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), launched in 2023 with an outlay of Rs 19,744 crore, aimed at decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors, fostering innovation in green technologies, and generating employment opportunities.
The NGHM has already achieved significant milestones in green hydrogen production and electrolyser manufacturing. The newly launched proposal further encourages industries and start-ups to develop cost-effective, biomass-based green hydrogen solutions, advancing India’s hydrogen economy and sustainability goals.
