REC, a Maharatna public sector enterprise, has set up a new subsidiary, Munak Power Transmission, to further strengthen its power transmission infrastructure development efforts.
Munak Power Transmission is a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), which itself is a subsidiary of REC. Accordingly, the new entity is classified as a direct subsidiary of REC under the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013. The subsidiary has been established to develop a 400 kV substation at Munak in Haryana, along with the associated transmission lines, to facilitate the evacuation of 800 MW of power from the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant at Yamunanagar.
The project was awarded by Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) on 1 October 2025, with RECPDCL appointed as the bid process coordinator (BPC) under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework. Following the selection of the successful bidder, the project company and its assets will be transferred in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
