NBPDCL is leading a major power distribution project in Siwan, Gopalganj, and Saran. This Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) infrastructure renovation and expansion project costs Rs. 428.45 crores.
The project aims to eliminate outages and improve reliability by strengthening and modernizing these areas' electricity distribution networks. Smart meters, transformer upgrades, feeder lines, substation automation, and distribution quality improvement are key efforts. Smart grid technology should improve load management and data-driven decision-making.
Beyond infrastructure improvement, this program may provide power to isolated rural regions. It hopes to improve education, healthcare, and citizens' quality of life by contributing to socio-economic growth.
Improved power supply dependability and reduced transmission and distribution energy losses are expected to boost industrial development and investment. Expanding electricity availability may improve socioeconomic aspects and environmental sustainability by reducing power waste and integrating renewable energy sources.
However, project challenges include efficient project management to complete the project on time and within budget, acquiring land for infrastructure upgrades while engaging local communities, ensuring the long-term financial viability of the upgraded distribution network, and acquiring and training skilled personnel to operate and maintain the advanced technologies.
