PFC & KfW Join Forces: A €150M Boost for India's Power Grid

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has signed a €150 million loan agreement with Germany’s KfW to finance projects under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The agreement was formalized on August 21 by PFC Chairman and Managing Director Parminder Chopra and KfW CEO Stefan Wintels.

The funding aims to boost the operational and financial efficiency of power distribution companies (DISCOMs) across India. This partnership reflects the ongoing Indo-German collaboration in the energy sector, particularly in power distribution and reform initiatives.

The signing ceremony in New Delhi was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Gottfried von Gemmingen, Head of Economic Affairs at the German Embassy, and Sandeep Kumar, Director (Finance), PFC.

Commenting on the agreement, Parminder Chopra said, “PFC has been at the forefront of financing and enabling reforms in India’s power distribution sector. We look forward to expanding our partnership with KfW into renewables and clean energy.”
