APTRANSCO has set a target to complete 55 major transmission projects worth ₹9,319.30 crore, which will add 8,853 MVA of transformation capacity and 1,558 circuit kilometres of transmission lines to Andhra Pradesh’s power grid.
Joint Managing Director G Surya Sai Praveenchand noted that new 400/220/132 KV substations are being developed at strategic locations including Kakinada SEZ, Achutapuram, Gudivada, and Ainavalli, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing 24×7 reliable power. AP power utilities are prioritising transmission infrastructure expansion, system modernisation, and adoption of advanced technologies.
Currently, APTRANSCO operates 380 substations, 1,030 transformers with a total capacity of 71,049 MVA, and more than 33,000 circuit kilometres of transmission lines. The company is also implementing 1,500 MW/3,000 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) to enhance grid stability and manage peak demand efficiently.
