The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has recorded notable operational progress at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (RAPP), further strengthening India’s clean, reliable nuclear energy capacity.
RAPP-7 has been operating steadily at 90 per cent of its full power capacity since 29 December 2025, following regulatory approval. This achievement reflects stable reactor performance and represents a key milestone in the unit’s commissioning process. Meanwhile, RAPP-8 marked a major advancement with the successful completion of primary heat transport system hot conditioning on 5 January 2026, bringing the unit closer to fuel loading, criticality, and eventual grid synchronisation.
These milestones underscore NPCIL’s commitment to precision engineering, rigorous safety standards, and the expansion of long-term energy security. As RAPP-7 progresses toward commercial operation and RAPP-8 moves through advanced pre-commissioning stages, the project continues to enhance India’s base-load power capacity while supporting national climate and clean energy goals.
