REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) successfully transferred ownership of five Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) dedicated to inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the national power infrastructure.
On February 9, 2024, the SPVs were officially handed over to the winning bidders, with representatives from RECPDCL, REC, PGCIL, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), and Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) in attendance. This strategic move, aligned with supporting the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, saw successful bids from notable entities such as Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), a consortium of Indigrid 2 & Indigrid 1, and Apraava Energy.
This initiative is part of the government's holistic approach to address the nation's escalating electricity demands through bolstering renewable power initiatives. Additionally, RECPDCL awarded letters of award (LOAs) to Avaada Energy and Juniper Green Energy for 100 MW wind power projects under the Damodar Valley Corporation. These LOAs have been granted under a scheme aimed at enhancing flexibility in thermal and hydropower station generation and scheduling by integrating renewable energy and storage solutions.
REC has been a key player in financing and advancing the power sector throughout India, supporting diverse projects in generation, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy. Through its subsidiary RECPDCL, REC has been offering consultancy services and expert project implementation support to state power distribution companies and power departments, contributing significantly to the sector's development and sustainability.
