REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd under the Ministry of Power, has transferred Jalna Power Transmission Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV), to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (MSETCL) for the development of a key intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra.
The transfer was completed on June 12, 2026, following MSETCL’s selection as the successful bidder through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process managed by RECPDCL. The project will be implemented under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.
The project involves the construction of a new 400/132 kV substation at Jalna along with approximately 135 km of 132 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Jalna (New) with Jalna MIDC, Partur, and Ghansawangi & Utwad. Associated substation and transmission facilities will also be developed as part of the scheme.
With an estimated project cost of ₹912 crore and a scheduled completion period of 24 months, the transmission infrastructure is expected to improve network reliability, strengthen power evacuation capabilities and support rising electricity demand in the region. The project will also facilitate improved power supply to industrial and commercial consumers while contributing to Maharashtra’s broader economic development.
Jalna Power Transmission Ltd was incorporated as an SPV for the execution of this transmission scheme. The transfer to MSETCL marks an important step toward the implementation of the project and reflects ongoing efforts to expand and modernize the state's electricity transmission infrastructure through competitive bidding mechanisms.
