Resurgent Power: NRSS XXXVI Set to Power On

Resurgent Power Ventures is nearing full commissioning of the NRSS XXXVI interstate transmission system, a critical project it acquired from Essel Infraprojects.

Managed by NRSS XXXVI Transmission, the project is in its final stages, according to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). The main remaining component is a 77 ckm, 400kV double-circuit transmission line connecting the Koteshwar Pooling Station to Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. Progress on this stretch has been hindered by right-of-way challenges and delays in securing forest clearances. As of August 2025, most tower erection work is complete, but conductor stringing remains pending due to awaited tree-cutting permissions. In addition, the commissioning of two 400kV line bays at Rishikesh is on hold, awaiting clearance from state utility PTCUL.

Originally awarded to Essel Infraprojects in 2016 with a targeted completion in 2019, the project faced prolonged delays due to financial difficulties. In late 2021, PTC India Financial Services appointed Resurgent Power Ventures to revive and complete the stalled scheme.

This effort marks a significant step in restoring stalled infrastructure projects and advancing power transmission capacity in northern India.
