Jaipur-based Polaris Smart Metering has successfully secured two major smart meter projects totaling Rs 5,200 crore from Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (MVVNL). These contracts involve the installation of more than 5.1 million cutting-edge smart meters in strategic locations in Lucknow and Ayodhya/Devipatan, Uttar Pradesh.
Under the terms of the agreement, Polaris Smart Metering will handle the supply, commissioning, and maintenance of smart meters for consumers and system metering across the specified clusters for the next decade. The ambitious plan aims to deploy these state-of-the-art smart meters within the next 27 months, offering advanced features such as prepaid billing, real-time energy monitoring, precise metering, and enhanced grid management capabilities.
Operating under a design, build, finance, operate, own, and transfer (DBFOOT) agreement, this project represents a significant step in Polaris' commitment to modernizing and digitizing India's electricity grid. In addition to the Uttar Pradesh contracts, Polaris has also been awarded letter of awards (LOAs) valued at over Rs 2,400 crore for installing more than 2.3 million smart meters in West Bengal and Manipur. The primary goal of these projects is to reduce losses for power distribution companies (discoms).
These accomplishments underscore Polaris Smart Metering's dedication to driving the digital transformation of India's electricity infrastructure, contributing to a smarter and more sustainable energy future for the nation.
