Vishwaraj Sugar Industries plans to set up Co-generation Power Plant Karnataka

Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Limited (VSIL) intends to build a new sugar plant in Navage, Belagavi, Karnataka. The project is still in its early phases, but it is expected to be completed shortly. The total cost of the project is Rs. 250 crores. The new sugar unit project will have a capacity of 11000 to 21000 TPD and will generate sugar as well as other byproducts including molasses and bagasse. 

The captive power plant has a capacity of 22.8 MW. 100 KLPD to 250 KLPD Ethanol Unit The project is scheduled to be finished in 2026. The growth of VSIL's sugar production capacity corresponds to rising sugar demand in India and around the world. In the 2022-23 season, the Indian sugar sector is predicted to produce 35.5 million tonnes of sugar, up from 34.2 million tonnes the previous season. Global sugar production is likely to rise in the next years as well. 

The development of VSIL's sugar production capacity is projected to bring social advantages for the Navage region in addition to economic ones. The project is projected to generate new jobs and improve regional economic activity. The new sugar unit project is also anticipated to benefit local farmers by offering a guaranteed market for their sugarcane. Over 10,000 farmers in the region are projected to benefit from the project. 

The expansion of VSIL's sugar production capacity is a good thing for the Indian sugar sector and economy. It demonstrates India's and the world's expanding demand for sugar, as well as VSIL's commitment to the Navage region's long-term growth.

As of September 2023, The project is now in the stage of receiving approvals & has obtained all necessary government permissions work of the project is anticipated to occur in either 2023 or 2024.
