A Major Milestone: Mumbai's Metro 3 Line is Fully Energized

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) has successfully energised the entire 33.5-km Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ underground Metro Line 3, marking a significant milestone in the city's first fully underground metro project.

The 25 kV traction system was activated on July 23, enabling trial runs to begin on the final stretch between Worli and Colaba’s Cuffe Parade. With the line now fully energised, MMRCL will commence trial runs following mandatory system checks and safety validations.

These trials will continue until the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) inspects the system and provides a checklist of compliance requirements. Commercial operations can only begin once CMRS certification is granted.

Although the final phase was initially expected to launch in August, it may be delayed to ensure all safety and operational protocols are thoroughly met.
