AI-Powered Safety and Electrification Drive Gorakhpur's Rail Upgrade

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for North Eastern Railway (NER) has approved the newly constructed third rail line connecting Gorakhpur Junction and Gorakhpur Cantt in Uttar Pradesh. Spanning 3.5 km and electrified at 25,000 volts AC, the line aims to enhance operational efficiency and passenger convenience in the region.

The inspection, led by CRS Pranjeev Saxena alongside senior railway officials, involved a thorough review of infrastructure and safety systems. At Gorakhpur Junction, key components such as the AI-enabled electronic interlocking panel, power supply systems, yard layout, and safety documentation were assessed.

Using a motor trolley, the team conducted an on-ground safety evaluation of the route, inspecting track infrastructure including points, crossings, curves, and bridges. At Gorakhpur Cantt, the CRS examined signalling systems, platform clearance, ballast condition, and safety preparedness of railway staff.

The inspection confirmed that the section meets all operational and safety standards for full-scale deployment.
