Aqua Line on the Move: Revised DPR Paves Way for Expansion

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has approved the revised detailed project report (DPR) for the extension of the Aqua Line corridor, encompassing 11 stations from Sector-51 in Noida to Knowledge Park-V in Greater Noida.

The revised DPR, with slight adjustments in alignment, awaits approval from the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Centre, after being prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The total projected cost for completing the extension is estimated at Rs 2,991.60 crore, spanning 17.43 km.

This expansion aims to enhance commuter accessibility across Noida, Greater Noida West, and Greater Noida via Vikas Marg and Noida-Greater Noida Link Road, thereby alleviating congestion along these routes. Additionally, the Noida Sector 61 station will serve as an interchange between the Aqua Line and DMRC’s Blue Line.

The proposed stations include: Noida Sector 61, Noida Sector 70, Noida Sector 122, Noida Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, EcoTech 12, Greater Noida Sector 2, Greater Noida Sector 3, Greater Noida Sector 10, Greater Noida Sector 12, and Greater Noida Knowledge Park V.

In the initial DPR, a foot overbridge was planned to link Sector 51 (Aqua Line) and Sector 52 (Blue Line) stations. However, NMRC requested alterations, citing that the bridge would not provide a permanent solution due to the 430-meter distance between the two stations.
