BEML has received formal approval from the Government of Madhya Pradesh for the allotment of 60.063 hectares (approximately 148 acres) of land in the Umeria area of Raisen district.
The public sector enterprise plans to set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the site, focused on producing coaches and components for metro and railway rolling stock. This facility is intended to support Madhya Pradesh’s growing infrastructure needs, particularly in cities like Bhopal and Indore where metro networks are expanding.
Designed as a regional hub for rail-based infrastructure manufacturing, the new unit is expected to streamline local supply chains, lower logistics costs, and accelerate delivery timelines for both state and central government projects. In addition to enhancing production capacity, the project is poised to drive employment generation and skill development in the region.
With existing manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields, and Mysuru, BEML aims to leverage Madhya Pradesh’s central location to strengthen its presence in India’s urban transit sector.
