Namma Metro has installed two of the four composite girders near the Marathahalli bridge as part of the Blue Line under Phase 2A in Bengaluru.
The installation was carried out during early morning hours at the busy junction of Outer Ring Road and Old Airport Road to minimise traffic disruption. The work was executed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) in collaboration with contractor Shankaranarayana Constructions. The remaining two girders are currently being prepared and will be installed during late-night hours to ensure safety and efficiency. The Mahadevapura Task Force-Mobility, a citizen group monitoring the project, has confirmed that work is progressing as scheduled.
Composite girders, which combine multiple materials, are essential for elevated metro construction due to their strength and durability. This milestone reflects steady progress on the Blue Line, which is expected to improve connectivity along the Outer Ring Road, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen Bengaluru’s public transport network.
