Bullet Train Update: Mega Hubs Coming to Agra & Mathura

Plans for the Delhi–Varanasi Bullet Train Corridor are progressing, with the proposed high-speed rail line expected to strengthen connectivity between key industrial and urban hubs being developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Two major stations are proposed near the Raya Urban Centre in Mathura and the Agra Urban Centre in Agra, where authorities are exploring large-scale mixed-use and transit-oriented developments. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has initiated the identification of land parcels near Itauli village in Mathura and Etmadpur Madra village in Agra for the planned stations along the corridor.

These stations are envisioned as integrated mobility hubs featuring residential, commercial, retail, and business infrastructure designed to support long-term economic growth and regional development. Global property consultancy Knight Frank, which is advising on the project, recently held discussions with YEIDA officials regarding route alignment, station locations, and land requirements. Officials stated that more than 250 acres may be needed at both urban centres to facilitate the proposed developments associated with the bullet train corridor.
