Delhi Metro’s Big Leap: ₹3,386 Crore Released for Phase IV

The Delhi government has released its share of funds for the remaining three corridors under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro Rail Transit System (MRTS), aimed at accelerating the expansion of the city’s metro network.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the projects would significantly improve connectivity across the national capital, strengthen public transport infrastructure, and help reduce pollution by encouraging a shift away from private vehicles. The three corridors have a combined length of 47.225 km and an estimated project cost of ₹14,630.80 crore, of which the Delhi government’s share amounts to ₹3,386.18 crore.

The first corridor will connect Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block over a length of 8.385 km and will feature eight elevated stations. The second corridor will run from Inderlok to Indraprastha, spanning 12.377 km with a combination of elevated and underground stations. The third and longest corridor will link Rithala to Kundli in Haryana, covering 26.463 km.

All three corridors are expected to be completed within four years and are projected to ease traffic congestion while promoting sustainable and efficient public transport in the National Capital Region.
