Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is set to enhance commuter convenience by developing 14 new interchange stations under its Phase III expansion, aimed at enabling smoother and more efficient transfers across the network.
These new hubs will integrate the Delhi Metro Pink Line and Delhi Metro Magenta Line with key existing corridors such as the Yellow, Red, Blue, and Violet Lines. Designed as ring routes, the corridors will connect multiple radial lines at strategic points, improving overall network connectivity.
To facilitate seamless movement, DMRC is building an extensive network of foot overbridges (FOBs), ramps, underground passages, and travelators spanning over three kilometres. This infrastructure is expected to reduce walking time and improve accessibility, particularly at high-traffic interchange stations.
At Dhaula Kuan, a major connectivity upgrade will link the Airport Express Line with the Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus station on the Pink Line through one of the longest foot overbridges in the network. The corridor will include around 22 travelators, benefiting passengers, especially those travelling to and from the airport.
Key stations such as Anand Vihar and Botanical Garden will see full integration of new and existing corridors. At other locations, connectivity solutions will vary—FOBs will link elevated stations, ramps will address level differences, and subways will connect underground sections.
Stations including Azadpur, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, Karkarduma, and Welcome will feature FOB connectivity, while ramps are being added at Netaji Subhash Place, Lajpat Nagar, and Kalkaji Mandir. At Janakpuri West, where the Blue Line is elevated and the Magenta Line runs significantly underground, extended escalators will provide direct concourse-level access.
Additionally, DMRC is introducing colour-coded guidance systems across interchange pathways to help commuters navigate easily, especially first-time users.
The initiative is part of DMRC’s broader push to improve last-mile connectivity and reduce congestion, making travel across Delhi’s expanding metro network more efficient and commuter-friendly.
