Green Light for Pune Metro Phase 2 Extension: ₹ 3,626 Crore Boost!

The Maharashtra government has approved a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the Pune Metro Phase 2 extension projects.

The project comprises two corridors: Vanaz to Chandani Chowk (2A) and Ramwadi to Wagholi (Vitthalwadi) (2B), with an estimated cost of ₹3,626.24 crore. The extension will add 12.75 km of new Metro lines with 13 elevated stations. The project will be jointly funded by the Central and State governments, while Maha-Metro will finance it through transit-oriented development (TOD), additional FSI, and development of government land. Any additional expenditure will require approval from the State Finance Department.

Following final approval from the Central government, Maha-Metro will proceed with funding arrangements and appointment of consultants. For context, Pune Metro Phase 1, operational since September 2024, spans 33.28 km with 31 stations.
