Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has commenced on-ground construction for the Gurugram Metro Rail project with the casting of the first concrete pile in Sector-45 on 10 February 2026.
The milestone marks the beginning of Phase I of the project, which will connect Millennium City Centre to Subash Chowk. According to officials, the contractor will cast approximately 3,000 piles between Millennium City Centre and Sector 9 station during the first phase. Around 750 pillars are planned along the corridor, many of which are expected to become visible by the end of May between Subash Chowk and Millennium City Centre.
Meanwhile, GMRL is also progressing with the finalisation of alignment and tendering processes for the second phase of the metro project.
