Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura recently announced a significant enhancement in the state's rail connectivity with the commencement of train services from Agartala to Kolkata via Bangladesh. Following the successful trial run of the proposed Agartala and Gangasagar (Bangladesh) route, which connects Agartala to Kolkata through Bangladesh, Saha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He credited the Prime Minister for fulfilling his commitment to provide "HIRA" (highways, I-way, railway, airway) to the northeastern state.
In a momentous event, Chief Minister Saha flagged off the Agartala-Deoghar Express train, featuring LHB coaches. He highlighted that the Central government has approved funds for upgrading the Agartala station to a world-class facility. Furthermore, an allocation of Rs 93 crore has been made to transform three railway stations – Dharmanagar, Udaipur, and Kumarghat – into Amrit Bharat stations.
Acknowledging the positive transformation in rail services, Saha expressed his appreciation to both the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister for their dedicated efforts in facilitating these developments.
