Jaipur Metro: Extending its Reach to Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar

Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) is set to expand its metro network by extending services to Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar while also integrating the operational Line 1 with the upcoming Line 2 in southern Jaipur.

As per the detailed project report (DPR) for Line 2, the new corridor will intersect Line 1 at Chandpole Metro station in the north, with an additional connection planned in the southern part of the city.

“Vaishali Nagar lies in the southwest and Jagatpura in the southeast. This new alignment will enhance connectivity by linking Line 1 and Line 2 in south Jaipur as well,” a senior JMRC official stated.

The state budget, presented by Finance Minister Diya Kumari, has approved the DPR for metro extensions to Vaishali Nagar and Jagatpura. JMRC is actively working on three major corridor extensions:

  • Vaishali Nagar Extension: From the under-construction 200-Feet Bypass extension of Line 1 to Vaishali Nagar.
  • Jagatpura Extension: From Jagatpura to Tonk Road in Sanganer (part of the proposed Line 2).
  • Tonk Road to New Sanganer Road Connection: A possible extension of Line 1 via either Gopalpura Bypass Road or ISKCON Road.

JMRC is currently assessing land options for the Jagatpura terminal, with potential links to Sanganer, the airport, or Pratap Nagar stations on Line 2. Likewise, an extension may connect Line 1 to Mansarovar station, further improving metro accessibility across the city.
