Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday highlighted the rapid transformation of railway infrastructure in Odisha, underlining the Centre’s strong focus on enhancing connectivity and capacity. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of India’s first advanced 3D glass semiconductor packaging unit in Bhubaneswar, he said railway projects worth over ₹90,000 crore are currently under execution, marking a significant expansion of the network.
He noted that the scale of investment reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening both passenger and freight infrastructure, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and supporting economic growth.
During his visit, Vaishnaw also reviewed the redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, stressing timely completion and quality execution. The upgraded station is expected to offer enhanced passenger amenities as part of Indian Railways’ broader push to modernise stations into world-class hubs.
He further stated that Odisha has received a record railway budget allocation of ₹10,928 crore, which is set to accelerate project execution. Additionally, 59 stations across the state are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to improve passenger experience and infrastructure.
Emphasising connectivity, the minister said all 30 districts of Odisha are being brought under the rail network, aiming to ensure inclusive development and better integration of remote regions.
