RITES Delivers Draft DPR for Jaipur Metro Phase 2

The Jaipur Metro Phase 2 project has taken a significant step forward with the submission of the draft Detailed Project Report (DPR) by RITES, as confirmed by a Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) official. RITES was awarded the contract in November to prepare and review the DPR.

According to the official, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his team have already reviewed the draft and offered suggestions regarding the alignment and station locations. These recommendations will be incorporated into the final DPR before it is submitted to the Union government. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of the project is expected to follow, after which tenders will be invited.

As outlined in the draft DPR, Phase 2 will cover a 40-kilometer stretch from Sitapura to Sikar Road, featuring 35 stations—34 elevated and one underground. With an estimated cost exceeding ₹10,000 crore, the corridor is projected to serve around 2.5 million commuters upon completion.

During a recent review meeting, Chief Minister Sharma stressed the importance of strategically locating stations in Sitapura, Ambabari, and Vidyadhar Nagar to enhance public convenience and support future urban development.
