₹764 Crore Railway Project Cleared for Punjab's Ferozepur-Patti Link

The Ministry of Railways has approved the Rs 764-crore Ferozepur-Patti rail link project in Punjab, aimed at boosting regional connectivity and logistics efficiency.

Announced by Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on 12 November 2025, the 25.72 km project, cleared on 27 October, will connect the Malwa and Majha regions. The new rail line is expected to reduce the Ferozepur-Amritsar distance from 196 km to 100 km and shorten the Jammu-Ferozepur-Fazilka-Mumbai corridor by 236 km. It will also revive a historic route lost during the Partition and create a faster link to Gujarat seaports.

The project is set to provide strategic advantages for defence mobility, improve socioeconomic conditions for nearly 10 lakh people, and generate over 2.5 lakh employment opportunities. Additionally, it will serve 2,500–3,500 daily commuters, including students, workers, and patients from surrounding villages.
