South East Central Railway (SECR) has made notable progress in enhancing its rail infrastructure during the financial year 2024–25, completing 200.15 kilometers of new railway sections at a total investment of ₹2,896.53 crore.
Key Projects and Additions:
Anuppur–Katni Third Line Project:
Added 91.52 km to the network, including sections like Badwabara–Ghunguti (13 km), Ghunguti–Mudaria (10.7 km), and Mudaria–Birsinghpur (5.6 km).
Rajnandgaon–Nagpur Third Line Project:
Contributed 63.96 km with sections such as Paniajob–Bortalav (8 km), Kamptee–Kalamna (7.72 km), and Gondia–Gangajhari (13.74 km).
Bilaspur–Jharsuguda Fourth Line Project:
Added 54.57 km, covering stretches like Bilaspur–Gatora (8 km) and Raigarh–Kotarlia (9 km).
Gauge Conversion Projects:
17.3 km of rail lines were completed under the Kendri–Dhamtari and Abhanpur–Rajim gauge conversion initiative, improving connectivity in the region.
SECR officials highlighted that these developments will significantly boost railway capacity, enhance speed and punctuality, and facilitate smoother passenger and freight movement. The enhanced network is also expected to support regional growth, reduce congestion, and provide alternative routes to ensure operational resilience during emergencies.
Aligned with SECR’s vision for sustainable and eco-friendly rail development, these projects will be followed by non-interlocking procedures, including yard modifications and track linking. While this may cause temporary disruptions, passengers are encouraged to cooperate in the interest of long-term service improvements.
