Actis Hits the Road with Rs 1,500 Crore Acquisition in India

Actis, a prominent global investment firm, has finalized the acquisition of a portfolio of hybrid annuity model (HAM) road assets from Patel Infrastructure (PIL), marking a significant transaction valued at up to Rs 1,500 crore. The completion of the acquisition of two assets has already been achieved, with plans underway for the acquisition of an additional two assets upon fulfillment of certain conditions. This strategic move signifies Actis's intent to bolster its presence in India's burgeoning infrastructure landscape, leveraging the country's immense potential in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

These road assets, procured from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), offer enticing prospects with their availability-based fixed revenues coupled with interest rate indexation features. Given Actis's steadfast commitment to sustainable infrastructure, the road sector emerges as a key focal point within its investment strategy for India, complementing a series of other transactions currently in the pipeline.

Investments in transportation systems, particularly toll roads, hold the promise of enhancing road utilization efficiency, elevating road safety standards, and facilitating expedited journeys while curbing emissions. Furthermore, such investments contribute significantly to bolstering connectivity and fostering growth opportunities within the region.
