AMC Plans ₹450 Crore East-West Link for Ahmedabad

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced plans to construct the city’s first uninterrupted East-West roadway, connecting the eastern and western ends of the SP Ring Road. Bidding for the project is expected to open soon.

In the first phase, a 10 km stretch from Ognaj to the Dadhichi Bridge in Vadaj will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore, covering key areas such as Gota, Chandlodia, Nirnaynagar, Akhbarnagar, and Vadaj Circle.

“The design has been finalised, and the proposal has been submitted to the commissioner for tender approval,” an AMC official confirmed.

The road will feature:

Uniformly designed junctions, Pedestrian-friendly pathways, Elimination of traffic bottlenecks to ensure smooth vehicular movement

The remaining 10 km stretch from Vadaj to SP Ring Road in Odhav will be executed in five subsequent phases, bringing the total project cost to ₹450 crore. In addition, a separate 25 km North-South Corridor, estimated at ₹250 crore, is currently under consideration.

This initiative is part of AMC’s broader efforts to enhance urban mobility and reduce travel time across the city.
